Benefits of Mindfulness

' The 'Peaceful Kids' program makes a great contribution to helping children to develop mindfulness skills early in life - skills that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.  It is practical, systematic and can help children to understand themselves better and to develop ways to not only just survive in the modern world, but to thrive in it'

About Debra

Hi, I’m Debra — an educator with over two decades of experience as a classroom teacher, Wellbeing Coordinator, and Assistant Principal, and the founder of Target Wellbeing.

Alongside my professional work, my understanding of children’s emotional needs has also been shaped by supporting my own three daughters through challenges including anxiety, bullying and learning difficulties. This lived experience, combined with extensive professional training in evidence-based wellbeing and social–emotional learning programs—including Smiling Minds, Peaceful Kids, PALs Social Skills, and Bounce Back resilience programs—has strengthened my capacity to support children across diverse school and community settings.

Throughout my career, I have worked closely with students experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, social skills delays, learning differences and peer relationship challenges, partnering with families and school teams to implement practical strategies that build confidence, resilience and positive wellbeing outcomes.

Today, through Target Wellbeing, I support children, parents and educators to develop lifelong skills for emotional wellbeing, confidence and inner calm using evidence-informed practices delivered in a supportive, nurturing environment.

Let’s work together to nurture lasting wellbeing.
